Dubai, 15 January 2003 – Runners participating in last week’s Dubai Marathon had more than the exhilaration of crossing the finish-line to keep them going during the race. A soothing foot massage given by specialized massage therapists promised to lessen the aching and soreness experienced by most runners after completing their physical feat.
The foot massage was organised by Lamisil, the cure for a foot fungal infection affecting many athletes and known as Athlete’s Foot. The activity was designed to raise awareness of this common problem, with information on the condition being provided to runners as they waited for their relaxing foot rub.
This activity followed another Lamisil initiative that provided free foot analyses to runners during the three-day registration period prior to the race. A chiropodist (foot specialist) gave one-to-one assessments on the health of runners’ feet, diagnosing common foot problems including Athlete’s Foot.
Athlete’s Foot is a common fungal infection among athletes, as their feet spend many hours in hot and sweaty trainers and can get infected from gym changing rooms and shower areas.
