United Arab Emirates, Dubai, October 27, 2016
Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has expanded its direct billing services that previously only included emergency services at Latifa and Rashid Hospitals to now include emergency, inpatient and outpatient services in Rashid Hospital, Latifa hospital and Mankhool Health Center.
This means that these three DHA facilities have now begun accepting all insurance cards, billing them directly instead of patients settling the bill and later waiting for reimbursement from the insurance provider.
In a new effort by DHA to expand the scope of health insurance benefiters who can take advantage of the high quality medical services in Dubai, DHA also signed 34 contracts with health insurance companies and with NEXtCARE.
DHA aims to provide health services to those who are insured based on the best standards. Around 5000 patients who are privately insured have been treated since DHA launched the direct billing service.
Rashid Hospital, Latifa Hospital and Mankhool Health Center will start accepting those included in these insurance packages— starting from November 7.
The contracts were signed by His Excellency Humaid Al Qatami Chairman of the Board and Director General of DHA and Christian Gregorowicz CEO of NEXtCarein, in the presence of high-level officials.
Al Qatami said the authority spares no effort in developing an insurance system that aims to provide a happy and healthy society among members of the Dubai Community. He added that DHA hospitals and centers have the needed cadres, capabilities and preparations to take in those who are included in the insurance and provide them with the best medical services and that are of high quality.
His Excellency stressed the importance of raising awareness among the public about the benefits of health insurance especially as it protects residents in the case of any emergency that might require costly surgeries.
He said the authority has gradually started implementing the Health insurance law since 2013 based on flexible phases that give companies and individuals an opportunity to buy health insurance that are available in different rates. Expanding the services to Latifa Hospital and Mankhool Health Center is also part of the authority’s plan to successfully implement the health insurance law.
On his side, Dr Haidar Al Yousef, Director of the Health Funding at DHA, said that the Primary Health Care Centers will also be included in the health insurance system starting next November.
He added that all DHA facilities will hopefully be included at the beginning of 2017.
Dr Al Yousef said that 3.4 million Dubai residents are now insured so far and DHA is continuously working on developing the health insurance system by organizing the network of health insurance providers as insurance companies have started signing contracts with the authority and DHA expects all insurance providers to partner with DHA in the coming weeks.
Gregorowicz said NEXtCARE is keen on being the first group to provide clients with the benefits of the high quality services of the authority, which he said enriches the insurance program that NEXtCARE has and allows their clients to reach international standard level of health insurance programs in Dubai and attracts health insurance investors.
