D-Link's DGS-3700 Series Achieves MEF 9 & 14 Certification

Dubai, THE UAE, March 31, 2009 - D-Link Middle East, the end-to-end computer network solutions provider for consumer and business, today announced that its DGS-3700 series switch had received the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) 9 & 14 Certification from Iometrix test laboratory. Boasting the already MEF-certified DES-3528 series switch, D-Link has further emphasized its dedication and focus on the Metro Ethernet market.

Iometrix, together with the MEF, aim to provide certification that is globally acknowledged and trusted by Carriers and vendors for deployment of Carrier Ethernet Services. Attaining this distinct certification not only demonstrates D-Link's ongoing commitment to the Metro Ethernet market but also reinforces its pledge for the highest quality standards in its networking products.

"The achievement of the MEF accreditation is further proof that D-Link's technology delivers carrier class standards," said Harrison Albert, Regional Sales Director at D-Link Middle East. "We are very confident to provide innovative and robust Metro Ethernet switch products to satisfy our telecom customers and service providers, and we will continue our efforts to develop a wider range of high quality products to meet the market demand," Harrison concluded.

In the wider context, MEF certification provides a globally recognized interoperability standard that improves "approval" processes and independently validates functionality and conformance, thus reducing testing costs and time to market for Service Providers.

In addition, the MEF certification provides a performance and behavior benchmark as well as creates a platform for future standards testing.

The Metro Ethernet market has been a major focus for D-Link globally. With well over 8 million ports shipped over the past 2 years, D-Link continues to demonstrate a strong track record of providing innovative and robust technologies for Service Provider networks.

DGS-3700 series represents the new Gigabit switch family that D-Link caters specifically for Metro Ethernet services of Telecom/Service Providers. It comes ready with Service Provider-friendly hardware, robust software & security features, OAM manageability functions and Triple-Play Services. DGS-3700 series is designed to be deployed in compact and outdoor Telecom/Carriers cabinet: it has a compact form factor of 210 mm in depth in a 1U rack enclosure with operating temperature of up to 65?C. Furthermore, to simplify field installation, troubleshooting and maintenance, it has all the access connection located on the front panel.

DGS-3700 series switch includes 2 models: DGS-3700-12 comes with 8 10/100/1000M RJ-45 ports with 4 combo 10/100/1000M/SFP ports, and DGS-3700-12G comes with 8 SFP ports with 4 combo 10/100/1000M/SFP ports. Both models will be available in the second quarter of 2009 and will come with a modular AC/DC dual input power supply, one modular fan and one modular dust filter.
