Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) shoppers, fun-seekers, foodies and families will have plenty of options when it comes to great things to see, do and enjoy during Eid Al Adha.

With the extra-long public holiday coinciding with DSS’ exciting line up of events, promotions and more, there’s something for every resident and visitor to enjoy. As part of the Eid Al Adha break, the city’s malls, restaurants, live venues and famous landmarks will host a wonderful selection of offers, activations and concerts created especially for the annual celebration.

Organised by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), all of the stores, malls and venues taking part in this year’s Eid Al Adha festivities and DSS will follow all of the important health and safety rules including social distancing and the wearing of masks at all times.

DFRE highlights some of the best events taking place around Dubai for Eid and DSS: 

F&B AND RETAIL PROMOTIONS 

New to this year’s DSS line up for Eid Al Adha, the Big Eid Eat will invite diners to explore some of the city’s best eateries with great dishes and more on offer plus a chance to win AED20,000 in prizes. Taking place from 20 to 24 July, the Big Eid Eat will feature over 30 special brunches, menus, chef’s table events and cooking masterclasses. Foodies who share their dining experiences on social media @DSSSocial using #BigEidEat, #MyDss and naming the participating restaurant will have a chance to win one of four shopping vouchers worth AED5,000. 

The Dine & Win Eid Al Adha Staycation promotion will give families, couples and friends the chance to enjoy a great getaway at some of the city’s best hotels, inclusive of meals and selected activities. Foodies can win a staycation at the Park Hyatt Dubai, Waldorf Astoria DIFC, Hilton Canopy, Al Seef Heritage Hotel or Hyatt Regency hotel. Customers who spend AED 100 at any participating Dine & Win outlet will be entered into the staycation promotion as well as having a chance to win ZOMATO membership and RAK Bank gift cards loaded with AED200 as part of the DSS-long Dine & Win raffle. Participating Dine & Win venues can be found in malls including: Al Bustan Centre, Al Ghurair Centre, Al Warqa City Mall, Al Khail Gate Community, BurJuman, Binsougat Centre, Bay Avenue, Dubai Outlet Mall, Mudon Community, Oasis Mall and Shurooq Community Centre. Diners and families can also visit venues at Reef Mall, Times Square Centre, Union Cooperative Al Quoz, Wasl Vita, Dar Wasl, Wasl 51 and Souk Madinat Jumeirah. The Dine & Win Eid Al Adha Staycation promotion runs from 10 July until the third day of Eid. The DSS Dine & Win promotion will end on 4 September.

This Eid Al Adha, shoppers can earn Emirates Skywards Miles with the Emirates Skywards Everyday promotion. Emirates Skywards members can pick up Miles at hundreds of brands across the city with one Skywards Mile for every AED3 spent at dining, leisure and entertainment, beauty and wellness outlets. Skywards Everyday partners include: Al Jaber Optical, Café on First, Bukhara, Zanzi Bar, Liali Jewellery, Watchbox, Eupepsia Wellness, Bounce and Bounce X. Emirates Skywards members can also earn one Skywards Mile for every AED5 spent with the promotion’s grocery partners. Download the Emirates Skywards  app to see the full list of participating outlets. The Eid Al Adha Shop & Win raffle will see lucky shoppers win a share of AED200,000 in cash prizes during the public holiday. Customers who spend AED200 at any of the 20 participating Dubai Shopping Mall Group venues around the city will receive a digital raffle coupon entering them into the prize draw, with 40 winners taking home AED5,000. LIVE SHOWS

Superstar singer Ragheb Alama will perform some of his best-loved numbers at Dubai Opera on 15 and 16 July. A great way to prepare for the Eid Al Adha celebrations, the show will feature songs such as “Ya Rait”, “Aan Jad”, “Albi Asheqha” and “Elli Baana”. Tickets, priced from AED400 are available from visitdubai.com and dubaiopera.com


Much-loved performers Wael Kfoury, Melhem Zein and Mouhamad Khairy will perform live in concert for Eid Al Adha at Le Meridien Dubai Hotel & Conference Centre. The great evening of live music will be held on 23 July, with each star singing a selection of their biggest hits plus a mix of classic and contemporary tunes. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan will take to the stage at the Coca-Cola Arena in City Walk for two live shows. A much-loved performer, Rahat will entertain fans with his ‘Just Qawali’ show on 21 July and ‘Just Bollywood’ on 23 July. Regional pop favourites Waleed al Shami and Aseel Hameem will perform a super live show at Dubai World Trade Centre on 23 July. Regular performers in Dubai, the special Eid Al Adha concert will see the singers wow crowds with their renditions of famous Arabic pop songs. Arabic music fans will enjoy a night to remember at Coca-Cola Arena this Eid Al Adha with the great CairoBelle show. The evening will feature performances from Cairokee, one of the region’s favourite Arabic rock bands, and the famous singer Hassan Shakosh. The show will be held on 22 July. The Laughter Factory will bring Joe Larso, Kandi Abelson and Peter Szumowski to the stage for a great run of hilarious shows over the Eid holidays. The three comedians will perform at Movenpick JBR Dubai on 16 July, Zabeel House by Jumeirah on 21 July, Grand Millennium Barsha Heights on 22 July, Dukes The Palm hotel and Grand Millennium Business Bay, both on 23 July. FAMILY FUN

IMG Worlds of Adventure will invite residents and visitors to enjoy a super festival of family fun. Until 28 August, Dubai's largest indoor theme park will host great entertainment with live dance shows including the Summer Beach Dance, Caveman VS Dinosaurs and African Drummers. A variety of roving entertainment will spread happiness throughout the venue, with performers ranging from fun and creepy clowns, carnival dancers, stilt walkers, unicyclists, jugglers and mimes plus there will be a super Character Park Parade held each weekend. Hungry visitors can also enjoy a wide range of delicious F&B options at the venue.

City Centre Mirdif will host the Space Jam Experience this DSS. Taking place in the region for the first time, visitors will get the chance to participate in fun games and activities, meet and greets with Space Jam and Looney Tuns characters, enjoy a live DJ, and watch a spectacular acrobatic basketball dunk show. The Space Jam Experience will be held from 15 to 24 July.

Ibn Battuta Mall will host Eid Lantern Celebrations from 15 to 24 July. With a focus on traditional Arabic lantern or “Fanoos” visitors can enjoy activities fun photo booths, creative workshops and storytelling sessions from 1pm to 7pm each day. 

The Theatre at Mall of the Emirates will host the Louna Go Go Sailors show from 15 to 17 July. An entertaining musical event for kids aged from one to 10 years, the show will take the audience on an adventure to discover the secrets of ocean, including sea creatures and pirates. From 20 to 22 July, The Theatre will stage the children's play Ahlam and the Melodies Band. A heartwarming story about orphans, the show is great for kids aged eight to 12. The Modesh and Dana Maze Wonderland at Al Khawaneej Walk will be the perfect family destination for inquisitive youngsters of all ages. Full of fun puzzles and exciting obstacles, everyone who enters the maze will be challenged to find the best route to a Modesh and Dana statue where they can pose for a photo alongside the cheerful DSS characters. Families can visit the Modesh and Dana Maze Wonderland daily from 18 July to 18 August.
