Dubai, UAE - 8th May 2014
BSI, the business standards company, participated at this year's Abu Dhabi Quality Forum (ADQF) held at St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, Abu Dhabi on April 27-28.
Howard Kerr, Chief Executive at BSI delivered a keynote message on 'Quality Infrastructure 2030: Sustainable Industries for a Competitive Economy'. BSI along with industry supported the indicative Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 20301 and Abu Dhabi's determination to place quality at the forefront of the country's journey towards a sustainable economic growth.
The theme of this conference is focused on the standardization, testing, conformity assessment and measurement that underpin the growth of key industries in the country. With BSI's pedigree in helping business and creating the best practices for organizations, the company supports Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council on their vision on quality.
"We are delighted once again to be part of the second Abu Dhabi Quality Forum. It is our privilege to share our best practices and our expertise to deliver this ambitious vision set by Abu Dhabi," Kerr stated. "BSI takes its commitment to the region very seriously, encouraging the use of standards to support trade between companies and promote the use of standards and quality marks."
"We support British and international companies to further aid growth. We see standards as a valuable way of opening barriers to trade, and have great confidence in the Abu Dhabi Trust Mark in pathing the way for increased activity across the UAE. It will be a valuable tool that can work alongside the BSI Kitemark to assure consumers and help businesses build confidence in products and services being brought to market." added Kerr.
Ahmad Al Khattib, MEA General Manager Assurance and Testing, BSI, moderated a workshop to brainstorm with regulators, industry representatives and experts on information and communication technology (ICT) standards required by Abu Dhabi in order to compete in a global scale.
"The convergence of great minds in developing world-class standards across diverse sectors is remarkable. With risk that looms in information and communication technology nowadays, having an internationally recognized framework to protect and mitigate the unforeseen circumstances would be the best move to have uninterrupted business operations," concludes Khattib.
Hosted by Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC), this creative platform, ADQF, was attended by private and public sector organizations from the regional and international community.
