APC's New Symmetra PX System Meets Growing Power Demands by Providing up to 160KW of Power Protection for 400V Deployments. Its integrated Modular Power Distribution allows users to expand their power distribution quickly and effortlessly as needs change

Dubai UAE - APC, a global leader in integrated critical power and cooling services, today announced availability of its APC Symmetra PX 160 uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system with optional integrated modular distribution for data centers.  This next generation Symmetra PX system provides double the power, higher efficiency, longer life batteries with up to 25 percent more runtime, and an integrated battery/ bypass/ distribution cabinet that reduces the solution footprint by 63 percent.

The Symmetra PX is a truly modular system comprised of dedicated and redundant modules -- power, distribution, intelligence, battery and bypass -- all engineered into a design that makes service easy and efficient.  This architecture eliminates waste and lowers overall TCO by giving IT managers the ability to right-size power and runtime as demand grows or as higher levels of availability is required.

The Symmetra PX features integrated Modular Power Distribution - the most flexible power distribution concept available in the market today.  Its modular, hot swappable power distribution modules allows the new UPS to address high availability requirements such as easy and fast expansion without the need for downtime or electrical hot-work.

The Symmetra PX serves as the core power train that drives APC InfraStruXure® architecture for small and medium data centres, but it can also power individual "zones" within larger data centres.  "Right-sizing infrastructure components is a key principle of The Efficient Enterprise, APC's approach to ensure customers a more predictable, waste-free data centre environment that saves energy, boosts availability, and is scalable to provision future growth," said  Isabelle Guillaume, VP, 3-Phase Power Offer Management.

"With a new and compact design that addresses the increasing shortage of data centre space, the next generation Symmetra PX system offers 160kW of power protection, integrated modular power distribution, increased efficiency and extended life batteries in a footprint that is 63% less than a comparable 80 kW offering. Furthermore, businesses can also take advantage of lower initial capital costs and operating costs by right-sizing their power and rack combinations," Isabelle Guillaume, VP, 3-Phase Power Offer Management

As an integral part of the InfraStruXure architecture, the Symmetra PX offers simplified designs that are highly manageable from operation through expansion.  Its self-diagnostic capabilities and standardised modules mitigate the risk of human error resulting in increased overall data centre and computer room reliability.    In addition, by offering the same core attributes of the existing Symmetra PX family, namely redundancy and scalability, the higher power density and hot-swappable modular power distribution helps ensure system availability and agility while reducing total cost of ownership.
