Hong Kong's December retail sales rose 6.2% from a year earlier for a 11th consecutive month of growth, as demand benefited from continued economic recovery.

Sales surged to HK$33.3 billion ($4.27 billion) in December, government data showed on Monday. They grew by 7.1% in November.

In volume terms, retail sales rose 3.4% year on year in December, compared with a revised 4.3% in November.

For the full year of 2021, total retail sales increased 8.1% in value terms and rose 6.5% in volume. ($1 = 7.7977 Hong Kong dollars)
