PARIS/HAMBURG - Algeria’s state grains agency OAIC is believed to have purchased about 600,000 tonnes of optional-origin milling wheat in an international tender which closed on Thursday, European traders said in estimates on Friday.
Initial trade estimates on Thursday evening had put the purchase at around 500,000 tonnes, but more details are possible later on Friday.
It was largely purchased at around $274.50 a tonne c&f, traders said. More detailed assessment of prices are also possible later.
The wheat was sought for shipment in two periods from the main supply countries: Jan. 1-15 and Jan. 16-31, 2021. If sourced from South America, shipment is between Dec. 1-15 and Dec. 16-31, 2020.
