Former US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents Javier Pena and Steve Murphy who tracked down Pablo Escobar are in Dubai to host a talk show on how they got the notorious Columbian drug lord and narcoterrorist.

Capturing Pablo will be hosted at Dubai College on October 5 and 6. Talking to XPRESS ahead of the event, Pena said he and Murphy will reveal exclusive details about Escobar whose life has been chronicled in the popular Netflix series Narcos. “The show is as close as it should be and can be but we are going to tell Dubai things people had never heard before,” he said.

“We were on our toes 24X7. There were times when we could get leads in the middle of the night and we would have to pursue them,” said Murphy.

Escobar was killed on a Bogota rooftop in 1993. Who fired the fatal shot is unclear, but there is a photograph of Murphy posing with Escobar’s bloodied corpse. “I wish Javier was there too. Unfortunately, he was in Miami that day,” said Murphy.

Recounting the cat and mouse game in the hunt for ‘The King of Cocaine’, Pena said Escobar evaded arrest for years as he had the support of the common man.

“People loved him and that often got in our way. Many in Colombia looked up to him as a god but he was just a master manipulator,” said Pena.
