AMMAN — The Arab League on Sunday commended Jordan's initiative to establish the "Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for Education Affairs", the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The council's creation is part of an effort to support the implementation of relevant decisions of the Arab summits and the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organisation (ALECSO).

The statement came during the 108th session of the Social Committee of the Economic and Social Council, chaired by Libya.

The meeting followed up on decisions from the 107th session of the Economic and Social Council, as well as the plan for the economic and social empowerment of women and girls in rural areas.

Also on the agenda were discussions about vaccine usage in Arab countries and Arab international cooperation in the social and development fields.
