Saudi citizen gets $266,780 in compensation for arbitrary termination

Company was also asked to pay the citizen his end of service benefits and salary arrears

Riyadh — The Riyadh Labor Court asked a company to pay SR1 million to a Saudi citizen as compensation for his arbitrary termination.

The company was also asked to pay the citizen his end of service benefits and salary arrears.

The citizen had filed a case against the company for terminating his three-year contract and firing him arbitrarily after four months.

The verdict was issued by the court in its very first session itself. It was referred to the appeals court.

Labor courts across the Kingdom issued 2,700 verdicts in over 70 days since the beginning of their work. The five labor courts were launched by Minister of Justice and Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council Sheikeh Walid Al-Samaani last November.

Riyadh topped the list with 771 verdicts followed by Madinah with 349, Dammam 329, Makkah 317 and Buraidah 243 verdicts.
