A new traffic rule has been introduced by Ajman Police, according to a statement issued on Thursday.

Starting from April 28, 2019, onwards - heavy vehicles will be banned from Mohamed bin Zayed Road in Ajman, as well as on the opposite direction from Umm Al Quwain towards Sharjah from 5.30 am to 12 am (midnight), the statement said.

The move has been taken to ease traffic congestion on the road. According to Dr Lt. Saif Abdullah Al Falasi, Director of traffic and patrol department at Ajman Police, the ban applies to all trucks except for those with a valid permit from the police to access the road.

He added that the measure aims to reduce the danger caused by heavy vehicles during the day time, instead allow them access to the key road when traffic of light vehicles (such as cars) is less.

Al Falasi urged drivers to abide by the traffic laws.
