Court forms will be available in both Arabic and English in Abu Dhabi, the judicial department announced on Saturday. The initiative, a first for the Middle East region, will see rental, court order, commercial, family and other claim forms available in both languages.
Yousef Saeed Al Abri, Undersecretary, Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, said the initiative would help residents get "easy access" to justice through the simplification of litigation procedures.
"The adoption of the interactive forms for initiatory pleadings, grievances and applications in Arabic and English is aimed at developing judicial services, standardising court forms and increasing transparency of litigation. It will help eliminate the language barrier for foreigners and enable them to understand the litigation procedures, their rights and duties.
"Furthermore, it will help residents register their cases through simple forms, and provide a kind of legal awareness to the litigants," Al Abri added.
He explained that the forms are free of complex legal jargons and "can be filled by individuals without the need for specialists".
