Bahrain's tourism sector is witnessing a quantum leap in indicators and results that enhance the kingdom’s position as a global tourist destination, said Tourism Minister Fatima Al Sairafi.

Agreements have been signed with more than 100 tourist offices across the world as part of efforts aimed at strengthening co-operation with the private sector and international tourism offices to attract more tourists, she noted, citing 19 target markets within the kingdom’s tourism strategy.

Results achieved by the sector last year exceeded the goals defined in the kingdom’s tourism strategy (2022-2026), especially in terms of average tourist nights, inbound tourism expenditure, average spending per visitor and the number of tourists, she said.

During a media briefing held yesterday, Ms Al Sairafi referred to the most prominent tourism projects in Bahrain, citing particularly Exhibition World Bahrain, the latest exhibition complex in the Middle East and the largest in the kingdom. Immediately after its opening, it succeeded in hosting a number of major events, which help strengthen the kingdom’s pioneering position regionally and internationally on the exhibitions and conferences industry map, she added.
