KUWAIT, Sept 23 (KUNA) --

1979 -- An Amiri decree is issued to establish a council for the care of youth.

1989 -- The Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah carries out an official three-day visit to Baghdad during which the Iraqi President, Saddam Hussein, granted the Amir the highest medals of honor in appreciation for Kuwait's support and honorable stances with Iraq.

1990 -- The Iraqi occupying authorities announce they will withdraw all denominations of Kuwaiti currency and exchange it with iraqi currency at an exchange rate that makes the Iraqi dinar equivalent to the Kuwaiti one. The Iraqi authorities set the deadline of October 6th as the last day to exchange Kuwaiti money. After the specified date, it will be considered illegal.

1998 -- The State of Kuwait honors actor Abdulaziz Al-Namash for his pioneering role in theatre and acting in the framework of the first cultural season held by the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters (NCCAL).

2002 -- Kuwait chairs the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) board of governors' for the Middle East and south Asia group. It is the highest executive authority in the agency.

2003 -- Kuwait and Jordan sign an agreement that regulates the movement of Kuwaiti trucks into Jordanian territories, which cancels all fees and taxes on Kuwaiti trucks and lowers them for Jordanian trucks entering Kuwait.
