LONDON: Philippine Airlines (PAL) will suspend regular flights to Kuwait from May 16 in response to falling demand.
“The ongoing slowdown in (overseas foreign worker) travel to Kuwait has made regular operations economically unsustainable, hence the need to suspend these flights to Kuwait until such time that market conditions on the route improve,” the airline said in a post on its Facebook page on Saturday.
“PAL will continue to serve Kuwait through our flights to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam.” Philippines president Rodrigo Duterte launched a repatriation plan for Filipino workers in Kuwait earlier this year, following the murder of a Filipino maid whose body was discovered in a freezer. Around 4,000 workers have been evacuated as part of the program.
