Dubai, 22 Nov, 05 (WAM) - Under the patronage of Shaikh Ahmedbin Saeed Al Maktoum, Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO) is scheduledto host the first of its kind Nanometer Design Workshop in theregion late this month.
To run for two continuous days, the workshop is scheduled tokick off at Dubai Le Royal Meridian on November 29th and 30th,according to a press release.
World's major Integrated Circuits (IC) Design and TechnologyFirms along with IC Technical Development and Service Providersincluding Synopsys, ARM, STMicroelectronics, CMP, and SVTI willpresent and discuss advancement and difficulties related to nanometerIC design and education. In addition, prominent figures in thefield of Microelectronics Industry and Research Laboratoriesincluding Dr Richard Newton, Dean of Faculty of Engineering,University of California - Berkeley will address the workshop.
Dr Eesa Bastaki, Director of Technology and Development, DSOsaid, "The key objective of the event is to create awarenessand discuss IC technology related issues." He added, "By attractinglarge number of technology experts, engineers and individualsinterested in technology related issues, DSO commits itself asthe region's base to hi-tech development and technical development.
The workshop will play a vital role in accelerating the momentumtowards creating a strong semiconductor base for the entire region,"added Dr Bastaki.Dr Mohamed Imam, Senior Manager, Technology R& D, and Coordinatorof the workshop, said, " The event is anticipated to draw a largecrowd of semiconductor and microelectronics specialists, researchers,engineers and teaching staff from a number of institutions inthe region along with IEEE regional members." "A day prior tothe workshop, a round table discussion on the region's semiconductorand microelectronic talent and technical strength will be heldat DSO premises," added Dr Imam.
The round table discussion will be attended by the semiconductor'sworld leading veterans and invitees from the Arab and MiddleEast institutions."
