MUSCAT — BP Oman and Oman Oil Company have launched their most recent venture at Seeb — the BP Wadi Al Bahais service station, a press release said. This is the first service station BP Oman has constructed since the end of the seven-year government moratorium. David Douglas, chairman of BP Oman and chief executive officer of Oman Oil Company, commented: “We feel this progressive and innovative service station represents the future of BP Oman and Oman Oil Company’s vision for continued investment in Oman and its people.”

Mike Wilson, managing director of BP Oman, added: “We’re very proud to have been able to combine international expertise and technology to meet the expectations of our valued Omani customers. It reinforces our beliefs in providing our customers not only with the best service but also enables us to service the local community and protect the environment.”

In keeping with both BP Oman and Oman Oil Company’s philosophies of conserving the environment, the service station is the first in the Middle East to have a solar canopy enabling energy from the sun to be converted into electricity. This, in turn, will provide as much as 20-25 per cent of the daily electrical operational needs of the site.

The advanced technology also extends to the car washing facility or ‘BP Care Wash’ as it has been named. It provides the first high technology European car wash in an Omani service station featuring patented non-scratch foam brushes and BP’s unique “money back guarantee”.

The companies are confident of the standard of this facility that if customers are not happy with the quality of the wash they will be offered a free car wash or full refund. Keen to listen to their customers, the company has responded to local consumer requirements and opened BP’s own global ‘Wild Bean Café’, offering customers the ambience of a café atmosphere and the only opportunity at a service station to buy coffee made from freshly ground beans.

As Paul Phillips, retail manager of BP Oman says: “Everyone wants to spend his or her leisure time with their family and friends. Often this involves being out on the road and at this station you can get many services in one place saving customers time. The bottom line is that we are elevating customer service and convenience to a new level.”

Summarising the feelings of both BP Oman and Oman Oil, Mike Wilson commented: “We are looking to grow and invest in Oman. This is a great opportunity for all to see that we are back and the future for both our customers and shareholders looks good.”
