), an electronic-scanning radarand sensor solution provider, has today unveiled a new multi-language version ofits BlighterView sensor and control software at the International DefenceExhibition and Conference (IDEX), in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The BlighterView software provides a wealth of new features: multiple languagesupport - including Arabic, Korean, English and other European languages; a newmodular architecture to improve integration of Blighter solutions into commandand control systems; ESRI geographic information system (GIS) mapping; andsupport for third party sensors such as cameras and thermal imaging systems. Mark Radford, CEO of Blighter Surveillance Systems, said: "This feature richmulti-language version of our BlighterView software will provide the additionalcapabilities we need to support large scale deployment of radars, cameras, thermal imagers and other sensor systems into global defence and securityapplications, such as border and perimeter security and infrastructureprotection. "Several customers, including a South Korean integrator, approached us aboutproviding local language support so we developed the capability to customise theBlighterView application to use local language and terms that are familiar tosystems operators. This is a key development given our particular focus onMiddle Eastern and North African markets." At the heart of BlighterView is the control panel which allows access to thewealth of advanced settings provided by the company`s electronic scanning groundsurveillance Blighter radar. The control panel is a key component necessary fora system integrator to design the Blighter radar into their system. John Oyler, software manager for Blighter Surveillance Systems, said: "We haveexpanded the Blighter software team to enable us to develop new capabilitieswithin the BlighterView software. The new architecture provides greaterflexibility for supporting individual users and simplifies the integration ofthe Blighter radar into existing command and control systems as we now providecustomers with a toolkit of modules to ease the integration process. "Furthermore, the addition of advanced mapping based around the ESRI GIS systemenables customers to load existing open source maps and satellite images, ortheir own country maps, into the application if required. The BlighterViewsoftware then overlays terrain data, radar, camera images and other sensorinformation onto the available map to provide a multi sensor displaycapability." BlighterView is available as a stand-alone Microsoft Windows application and isalso supported by a Software Developer`s Kit (SDK) enabling system integratorsto simply plug the required elements of the BlighterView software into their owncommand and control systems. Blighter Surveillance Systems provides an integrated multi-sensor package tosystems integrators comprising the Blighter electronic-scanning radars, cameras, thermal imagers, trackers and software solutions. Blighter radars combine patented solid-state Passive Electronic Scanning Array(PESA) technology with advanced Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) andDoppler processing to provide a robust and persistent surveillance capabilityand an unmatched combination of high reliability, accuracy and performance witha low cost of ownership.
