RIYADH: Paper-based referrals and transactions will be stopped in courts and enforcement units across Saudi Arabia under an order issued by Minister of Justice Walid Al-Samaani.

The step is primarily meant to speed up the justice system, reduce backlogs and boost efficiency.

In a circular to all courts and enforcement bodies, Al-Samaani directed a shift from traditional paper-based work to a full electronic system.

According to the circular, all paper-based transactions between enforcement units and preparation departments must stop.

Judiciary workers are asked to scan minutes of the courts and feed them into the electronic system where necessary.

The minister earlier launched “paperless” initiatives in enforcement courts in Riyadh, Madinah and in Buraidah in the Qassim region.
