KHOBAR: State-controlled Saudi Electricity Co (SEC) said on Tuesday it had resumed operations at one of its facilities in Jeddah, on the West coast of Saudi Arabia, after a brief outage.
"We experienced technical problems in one of our facilities in Jeddah which led to power loss in some areas within the cities of the west coast," spokesman Humood al-Ghobaini said. "Loads were restored within few minutes following the shutdown."
He did not say what caused the technical glitch at the 2,700 megawatt (MW) plant.
Ghobaini said the firm used the time during the brief shutdown to carry out some maintenance work before next summer, when demand for air conditioning peaks during hot weather.
