The Egyptian General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC) is offering an international tender to purchase wheat for the September 1st to 10th shipment, according to an official statement.

GASC plans to buy a quantity ranging from 55,000 to 60,000 tons of soft and/or milling wheat.

This shipment will have a 180-day payment plan for the importers, the authority said.

Vice Chairman of GASC Ahmed Youssef told Reuters that Egypt mulls buying the wheat cargoes from the US, Canada, Australia, and France.

Youssef added that Germany, Poland, Argentina, Russia Ukraine are among the GASC’s wheat exporters list, besides Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Paraguay, Serbia, and Kazakhstan.

Egypt purchased 115,000 tons of Ukrainian wheat last week, while it bought 114,000 tons of Russian wheat earlier.

An official recently revealed that the Arab republic’s wheat storage capacity surpassed 4 million tons.
