Four industrial zones, out of seven run by the Industry, Commerce and Tourism Ministry have been renamed.

The decision was taken at yesterday’s Cabinet session chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier.

The North Sitra Industrial Zone will thus be known from now as Sitra Industrial Zone; North Al Misfat Industrial Zone has been merged with the Al Ma’amer Industrial Zone to be known as Al Ma’amer Industrial Zone; the South Alba Industrial Zone will be known as Al Mzara’a; and Sitra Roundabout Industrial Zone has been renamed as Al Lahsi.

Salman Town Industrial Zone, Mina Salman Industrial Zone and Hafeera Industrial Zone have all remained unchanged.

The Cabinet session, held remotely, praised His Majesty King Hamad’s address given at the inauguration of the third session of the fifth legislative term of the Shura Council and Parliament.

The King’s address highlighted Bahrain’s priorities and development goals, and will serve as a roadmap for Team Bahrain to further enhance progress and development.

Ministers welcomed the decision by Saudi Arabia’s cabinet, chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, to raise the level of representation for the Saudi-Bahraini Co-ordination Council to be headed by the Crown Princes of the two countries.

The Cabinet praised the decision which aims to further strengthen bilateral relations across all levels.

It extended best wishes to Shaikh Mishaal Al Ahmad Al Sabah, who was newly named Crown Prince of Kuwait by the Amir, Shaikh Nawaf Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah.

The Cabinet expressed its wishes for the continued commitment to the ceasefire agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia in the Nagorno Karabakh region and for a political solution to be reached which resolves the conflict in a way that contributes to achieving security and peace in the two countries.

The Crown Prince issued directives to ministers and government agencies to expedite their responses to questions and requests received from Parliament and Shura Council committees to further enhance co-operation between the executive and legislative branches.

The Cabinet also reviewed the Electricity and Water Authority’s performance and efficiency regarding the production, transmission and distribution of electricity and water in summer during the Covid pandemic.

The memorandum submitted by Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Wael Al Mubarak outlined measures taken to rationalise power usage and precautionary steps taken to confront the Covid-19 pandemic.
