CAIRO - Egypt's gas production will increase by about 15% to 7.540 billion cubic feet per day in the 2020/21 fiscal year which started in July, the state Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) said in a report.

Egypt produced about 6.550 billion cubic feet per day natural gas in 2019/20, the report said.

Gas production has boomed since Italy's Eni discovered the giant Zohr field off Egypt's Mediterranean coast in 2015.

The country is trying to position itself as an energy hub in the eastern Mediterranean, importing gas from Israel and exporting to Jordan and potentially to Europe and Asia.
