Iraq intends to build a city comprising many housing complexes in the central Alanbar governorate within plans to narrow a supply gap due to rapid population growth, according to the Construction, Housing and Municipalities Ministry.

Designs for 'Al-Ramadi City' have been completed by the Ministry's engineers and the project is set to be launched soon, the Ministry said in a statement carried by the Iraqi news network Aleqtisad News.

"The Minister will shortly approve the final basic designs for the city, which is among several similar projects to be set up in Iraq," the statement said, without providing details of Al-Ramadi project.
