Seven companies will be listed on the Tunis Stock Exchange (TSE) in 2017, bringing the number of listed companies to 86 against 79 currently, said Director General of the TSE, Bilel Sahnoun. Speaking to TAP, he added that the Board of Directors of the Stock Exchange has already examined 4 listing files, those of companies MISFAT, SANIMED, MECATECH and the Company “Atelier du Meuble Intérieur ».

“The listing of seven companies would bring the market capitalisation to about one billion dinars of additional capitalisation," said Sahnoun, adding that the Tunis Stock Exchange has just finalised the preparation of a kit of access to the financial market for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) wishing to come to the market for financing".

The DG of the TSE noted that this year 2017 also be marked by the effective launch of the support programme for SMEs to help them use the stock market for financial purposes. The objective is to have a representation of several areas on the stock market, in particular the telecom, tourism, agriculture, mining and energy sectors.

A prospecting action has already been taken to target certain companies in order to present the arguments and advantages of IPO.

Sahnoun pointed out that the ambitions and development plan of several companies are today limited because of the banking obstacles.

"Recourse to the stock market thus becomes the right solution to perpetuate the company through the search for other shareholders and to ensure a succession of generations," argued the official.

He also said that the stock market will try to convince the public authorities in 2017 to bring partially or totally state-owned companies to increase market capitalisation.”
