Emirates has announced it will deploy more A380s and increase flight frequencies on popular routes, including cities in the United Kingdom (UK), to add more long-haul travel options to flyers.

The announcement comes shortly after the UAE was added to the UK’s travel corridor, which has enabled travellers from the Gulf state to enter the UK without undergoing a quarantine. According to the airline, the new air travel corridor has fuelled an increase in demand for services bound to the UK.

The airline has been resuming its services across its global network since the lifting of travel restrictions a few months back. So far, it has reactivated its operations in more than 100 cities worldwide.

Latest additions

Starting from November 27, the Dubai-based carrier will operate the world’s largest passenger aircraft four times a day to London Heathrow and six times a week to Manchester from December 2.

The airline will also boost its A380 flights on the Moscow route from the current twice weekly to a daily service from November 25.

Also, flights to Birmingham and Glasgow will operate daily, instead of four times weekly, from November 27 and December 1, respectively.

Flights to Manchester will likewise increase from the current eight-a-week to 10 flights per week from December 1, of which six will be served by an Emirates A380 and four with a Boeing 777-300ER.

At London Heathrow, Emirates’ current twice daily A380 and once daily Boeing 777 flights will become four daily A380 services from November 27.

“These represent a significant expansion of Emirates services to the UK, following the recent establishment of the UK-UAE travel corridor which has led to increased demand,” the airline said in a statement.
