Muscat: The Ministry of Health has denied rumours doing the rounds on social media regarding a change in the age groups eligible for the Covid-19 vaccine in the Sultanate.

In a statement, the Ministry said, “Rumours about a change in age groups eligible for the vaccines in Muscat Governorate are false. The Ministry reserves the right to legally prosecute rumour spreaders.”

The fake messages being spread on social media falsely stated that those born in 1965 or after would receive the vaccination and quoted a local website.

Another rumour asked people born in the year 1970 to go get themselves vaccinated at the Baushar sports complex between 9 am and 1 pm, even asking them to spread the message further.
