Cairo –  Egypt’s food exports increased by 1% year-on-year (YoY) to $3.2 billion during the first 11 months of 2020, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported on Tuesday, citing the Head of the Food Export Council, Hany Berzy, as saying.

Exports of food industries accounted for 13.2% of the country’s total non-oil exports during the January-November period, landing the third position among other exports, Berzy revealed.

Food exports dropped by 8% YoY to $246 million in November and by 12% YoY to $270 million in October, but grew by 3% to $314 million in September and by 42% to $345 million in June.

Arab countries topped Egypt’s food export destinations with a share of 54% or $1.72 billion in the 11-month period ended on 30 November, followed by the European Union (EU), non-Arab African countries, and the US with $448 million, $369 million, and $186 million, respectively.
