Abu Dhabi Municipality issued a reminder to parking umbrella licence owners to renew their licences.

Umbrellas located outside the premises of the residence must have proper permits or else be subject to fines.

Those failing to comply with the municipal rules and guidelines can face fines of up to Dh50,000 according to the federal law.

Inspection campaigns will be held to verify the status of such parking appendages.

The parking umbrella should comply with all safety regulations and refrain from obstructing traffic flow.

According to the municipal guidelines:

1- Parking umbrellas should be made of a strong, light material capable of withstanding the vagaries of weather

2- Periodically clean and maintain their overall appearance as per municipal standards

3- Be used to provide coverage for parking areas only

4- Comply with municipal requests for removal in the event of public works or changes to the road

Renewing or obtaining a parking umbrella licence can be done through the municipality's app or their website.

Residents must specify how many outer parking umbrellas they require, subject to a Dh2,000 initial payment with an annual renewal fee of Dh500, per parking space.
