HAMBURG- Algerian state agency ONAB is believed to have bought about 40,000 tonnes of corn in an international tender which closed on Wednesday, European traders said in assessments of the purchase on Thursday.

It was believed to have been purchased at about $192.50 a tonne c&f.

The tender had sought corn from optional origins but traders believed the purchase is likely to be sourced from the United States. Corn shipment was sought between April 20 and May 5.

Algeria does not usually disclose the results of its tenders and purchase reports are based on trade assessments and estimates.
