ArabFinance: Egypt’s health ministry announced 421 new COVID-19 infections on December 2nd, increasing the cases tally to 116,724 until press time.

The ministry reported 28 more fatalities, bringing the death toll to 6,694.

The Arab republic currently has 102,949 total recoveries, after 133 new patients were discharged from quarantine hospitals, according to the statement.

The country’s new daily cases have crossed the 400 mark for the first time in about two weeks. The number of new infections has been above 300 since November 18th, after exceeding the 200 mark earlier that month.

The Egyptian Cabinet may resort to imposing a partial lockdown if the current upswing in cases continue, Nader Saad, cabinet spokesperson revealed.
