Etihad Airways is now offering free insurance cover for customers who might get infected with coronavirus during one of their travels.

The airline announced on Monday that it has rolled out its COVID-19 cover to boost the confidence of the travelling public amid the global pandemic.

The airline also assured it will pay for the quarantine costs of passengers.

“Guests who are diagnosed with COVID-19 during their trip won’t have to worry about medical expenses or quarantine costs when they fly with Etihad,” the airline said in a statement.

“All Etihad tickets regardless of date of booking, travelling between now and December 31, 2020 will include COVID-19 insurance. Guests with existing bookings don’t need to do anything – they are automatically enrolled into the programme,” the airline added.

The announcement comes after Emirates and flydubai unveiled their free insurance programme for their respective customers.

Etihad’s COVID-19 cover is in partnership with Axa and is part of the airline’s wellness programme.

The insurance is valid worldwide for 31 days from the first day of travel.
