Motorists were urged to take caution as thick fog covered many parts of the country on Monday morning, bringing visibility to less than 1,000 metres.
The National Centre of meteorology (NCM) stated that fog formation has affected internal and central areas, especially Abu Dhabi - Al Ain road, Abu Dhabi International Airport, and in parts of Dubai and Sharjah.
"The NCM calls for drivers to take all precautions and follow the traffic regulations regarding the chance of fog formation and poor horizontal visibility to its lowest at times over some internal and central areas, until 9am on Monday," the Met said in a statement.
The relative humidity is expected to hit up to 85 per cent.
Police issue advisory
Abu Dhabi Police have issued an advisory amid foggy weather. Police cautioned residents to drive carefully in the fog as visibility will be low, urging motorists to refrain from using their mobile phones to record videos or take pictures.
Sharing today's weather report, the NCM said: "The weather forecast for today is fair to partly cloudy with light to moderate winds in general."
It will get humid during the night and in the morning over some western areas with the probability of fog or mist formation.
The sea will be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and in the Gulf of Oman.
