Abu Dhabi, UAE: The Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology "ESMA" has implemented in the Indonesian capital Jakarta, the 1st training program for employees of the national accreditation committee “KAN” & national standards & National Standardization Agency of Indonesia “BSN”.
Within the first moves of ESMA to raise the technical capabilities of OIC countries, under the umbrella of the UAE technical assistance program, the requirements for accrediting halal certification bodies.
The 3-day training program presented by Eng. Youssef Al-Marzouqi, Head of Regulations section, touched on the UAE halal system and standard related to halal products and services, which enhances economic, commercial and technical cooperation with Indonesia, which is reflected in improving trade exchange opportunities between the two countries
H.E Abdullah Al-Maeeni, ESMA Director General, confirmed that the Authority adopted an Emirati program of technical assistance to countries in October of last year, which would contribute to supporting the country's strategy in terms of its contribution to development assistance.
The UAE technical assistance includes sending specialized experts within missions to provide technical training courses, develop specialized programs, and provide an opportunity for those wishing to visit Emirati entities and institutions to benefit from the practical experience of the UAE’s experience in applying best practices in the different standardization fields.
Al-Maeeni considered that the Emirati-Indonesian relations are witnessing remarkable economic advantage, especially with the doubling of the volume of trade exchange, which amounted to about 13.7 billion dirhams ($ 3.7 billion) during the year 2018, which represents an ideal growth opportunity in specific industries such as the halal industry, in which it leads The UAE is the global effort to unite the global halal system.
