Sharjah: The Health Promotion Department (HPD) at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs (SCFA) in Sharjah recently concluded its annual Ramadan campaign “Hilal Al-Seha” (Health Crescent). About 1730 people have benefitted from the campaign activities by organizing 14 virtual lectures delivered by local and international doctors and health specialists, achieving 94% public satisfaction with the topics covered in the lectures.

The campaign, which was held in conjunction with the WHO EMRO campaign under the slogan "30-day challenge", featured many virtual initiatives, including 30 awareness-raising posts and 17 videos featuring health tips through the Department's social media pages, in addition to launching the "30-day challenge" in cooperation with WHO, and posting 15 healthy recipes with low-calorie foods. 

"We are happy with the overwhelming response to the campaign activities, which confirm its success in fulfilling the sought-after objectives, said H.E Iman Rashid Saif, Director of the Health Promotion Department, pointing out the campaign aims primarily to raise community awareness about the importance of adopting healthy lifestyles by eating healthy and nutritious food and engaging in physical activity to protect ourselves from diseases especially in light of Covid-19 pandemic.

Among other activities were a lecture on the importance of healthy food delivered by Dr. Ayoub Al-Jawaldeh, the Regional Adviser for Nutrition, WHO’s Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean, in addition to posting 19 videos about the exercises that can be practiced during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
