Saudi entertainment sector offers more investment options

Saudi Arabia currently spends $22bln on tourism and entertainment

The first of its kind premiere international exhibition with a complete focus on the events industries kicked off its activities on Monday night here in Jeddah with the participation of more than 200 companies.

The Event Expo 2018 was inaugurated by Ghassan Khan, Chief Strategy & VRO Officer at General Entertainment Authority - GEA, Mohammed Al Saed, Assistant Secretary-General Jeddah Chamber and Hadi Al Al Harith, CEO of Al Harithy Company for Exhibitions (ACE) at Jeddah Center for Forums and Events.

Guest of honor Ghassan Khan in his inaugural address mentioned that Saudi Arabia has now launched an ambitious drive to become a culture and entertainment hub as part of sweeping modernization plans.

He said “the goal is to create a true cultural industry and Saudi’s booming entertainment sector will give developers more opportunities to invest in diversified markets.”

Meanwhile, Hadi Al Harith, ACE’s CEO welcomed all the exhibitors and visitors to the show and said that Events Expo 2018 premier exhibition will present a unique platform to all stakeholders a meaningful insight to current trends, new technologies, sustainable and environment-friendly products as well as global best practices in the Amusement industry.

The idea of The Events Expo has been initiated recognizing the hype and positive vibes that shifted to the entertainment industry after His Royal Highness, Prince Mohammed Bin Salman’s decision made on Vision 2030 to have the entertainment industry as a key potential source of economic growth shifting the dependence on oil and gas.

The four- day exhibition is providing a platform of opportunities on a size of a 10,000 sqm space allowing all existing and new businesses in the events and entertainment to show presence, meet and generate news leads.

Saudi Arabia currently spends $22 billion on tourism and entertainment with efforts to build a strong local entertainment industry.
