Bahrain Arabian Gulf University (AGU) has awarded the main construction contract for the King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Academic Medical Centre within the King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Medical City project to Saudi company Al Fouzan Trading and General Construction Company, it was announced on Sunday.

AGU said in a press statement that the construction would be completed within 30 months from the date of signing the contract.

AGU is overseeing the implementation of the 288-bed hospital project which would house research and excellence centres and a college of medicine, the press statement said without disclosing the contract value.

In June 2018, Thomson Reuters Projects reported that the project is being funded by one billion Saudi riyals grant ($267 million) from the late King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Saudi.
