Senior Partner examines legislative policies of Foreign Investment Laws

Muscat - Abdelrahman El Nafie, a senior partner at S&A Law Firm, Dentons associated firm in Oman, has been awarded a PhD in Law from Cairo University. Dr. El Nafie's thesis examined the legislative polices of Foreign Investment Laws with an emphasis on Oman Law.

El Nafie has been practicing law in Oman for 30 years. He heads the Dispute Resolution Group and advises clients on diverse areas of the law including corporate and commercial matters.  He is currently working closely with the World Bank Group on advising the Oman Government in the promulgation of a new Foreign Investment Law.

El Nafie said: 'Studying over the past five years for the Doctorate, whilst examining Foreign Investment laws, has been a very interesting experience.  Combined with my 30 years of practising Law in Oman the PhD will enable me to serve and meet clients' needs with a more in depth awareness of the technicalities and the application of this particular area of law.  Foreign Investment laws are of great importance to a country's legal system and have an effect on almost all other areas of the law. In recent years we have noted that advice on implications of Foreign Investment laws has been increasing.'

Nick Simpson, Managing Partner of Dentons' Oman office, added: 'We congratulate Dr El Nafie on this outstanding accomplishment. It is a privilege to be working alongside a colleague who is recognised as an expert in Oman Law.  Abdelrahman has an exemplary record in his contribution to legal developments, and this award is a true recognition of his ongoing commitment and dedication to legal excellence in the Sultanate.'

S&A Law operates in association with Dentons, which has 35 years of experience in the Sultanate. Working together we continue to be the legal advisor of choice for major Omani and international private and public corporations
