HAMBURG - Jordan's state-owned Silos and Supply General Company has issued an international tender to buy 50,000 tonnes of milling wheat, European traders said on Thursday.

Tender deadline is May 21. The company's tenders are separate from those issued by Jordan's trade ministry.

The tender sought 35,000 tonnes of hard wheat and 15,000 tonnes of soft wheat.

The grains were sought for shipment in the second half of June and first half of July

Jordan Silos made no purchase in its previous international tender on April 5 to buy 50,000 tonnes of milling wheat when it was believed no trading houses participated.

The April 5 tender was originally scheduled to close on Feb. 5 but was postponed or re-issued about five times.

Jordan's main state grains buyer, the trade ministry, has issued a separate international tender to purchase 100,000 tonnes of hard milling wheat which closes on April 18.

The ministry has struggled to make purchases in a series of grain tenders in recent months, with traders saying uncertainty about quality controls and payment terms has reduced participation by major grain exporting houses.
