* Iraq's state grains buyer has made no purchase is in talks this week to buy least 30,000 tonnes of rice from the United States, traders said

* The talks involved inquiries restricted to United States suppliers only and were not formal international tenders

* No reason was given but it was believed prices were too high, one trader said
