Middle East's premier automotive event is fast approaching and promises to be an adrenaline-fuelled adventure for the whole family featuring the latest eye-catching cars, interactive racing challenges, drifting and more

Leading manufacturers to unveil latest models for the regional market

Dubai: The 2017 Dubai International Motor Show is just around the corner, with the 14th edition of the Middle East’s premier automotive event set to roar into the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) on 14 November for a five-day run that will go far beyond the headline-grabbing shiny new vehicles and updated models launched by more than 100 of the world’s leading automobile manufacturers.

Spanning more than 85,000 square metres of exhibition space at DWTC, this year’s show will appeal to petrolhead palettes, the region’s serious car buyers, car-mad kids and families looking for a different day out. So, whether you’re looking to buy, try or simply eye, there’s plenty under the bonnet for everyone at the five-day event.

“As the Middle East’s premier automotive event, the 2017 Dubai International Motor Show is the only place where cars fans, young and old – will get to see some of the models that will be hitting roads around the world in the future,” said Trixie LohMirmand, Senior Vice President, Exhibitions and Events Management, at Dubai World Trade Centre.

“This region has a great affinity for all things motoring but the Dubai International Motor Show is more than a motor show. We have a range of exciting features and activities to ensure a great day out for the entire family.”

With just days to go until the show clicks into gear, here’s some of the top reasons to visit the 2017 Dubai International Motor Show:

Secure the family bragging rights

Get all the family together and head to the Race Room to see who’s the family’s top speed ace. The Race Room features a racing simulator challenge for children under-16 and daily prizes of indoor karting track vouchers at Dubai Autodrome. Adults (over-16s) can get revved up for their own simulator challenge, with those recording the fastest 10 times during the five-day show invited to Dubai Autodrome for a sprint race experience on the karting track. The driver who records the fastest time will get a McLaren sprint experience on the full Dubai Autodrome race track.

Live the Dream

There’s cars and then there’s supercars – those stylish, noisy and super-sleek types that turn heads everywhere they go. The Middle East is a hotbed of wealthy supercar owners but for many car fans, the only time they see a supercar is when one of them is zooming past on the highways. But that is about to change. The 2017 Dubai International Motor Show is hosting a special zone dedicated to supercars: The Boulevard of Dreams. Visitors can get close to some of the fastest and most glamorous cars in the world, including the world’s first handmade Titanium supercar – the Vulcano Titanium, from Italian manufacturer ICONA. Traditional sector heavyweights such as Ferrari, Lamborghini and McLaren will allow be present with their latest models, while Devel, Shaali and Rimac will demonstrate how the UAE is making international waves in the supercar sector.

There’s eye-catching cars at every turn

With more than 550 cars at this year’s show, there’s sure to be something for every petrolhead – from compact sedans to spacious SUVs and hypercars. In addition, the 2017 Dubai International Motor Show is set to play host to more than 100 global and regional premieres, allowing visitors to get a glimpse of the latest models before they hit roads across the UAE.

Cars Under the Hammer

Copart, a leader in online auctions, will host an energetic classic car auction. Approximately 50 classic cars - some of which will be present at the show during the online auction at 6pm on Friday, 17 November - will go under the hammer in the fast-paced sale. Copart will offer free registration to those who sign up for the auction at the show (normal registration fee is AED 500) and anyone that attends the Copart stand during the show will receive a voucher waiving buyers’ fees for a future purchase. There will be giveaways at the stand and Copart staff will be on hand to explain how to register, bid online through the web or the App and guide visitors through buying vehicles at an auction, where excellent bargains can be found.

Feel the Full Drifting Rush!

Strap yourself in and hold on tight as an expert drift driver from the Prodrift Academy skillfully drifts the car round hair-raising bends at smoke-raging, wheel-spinning speed. This exciting show feature offers visitors a real experience of the skillful art of drifting in a safe environment. One for the thrillseekers.

Tune in to Ignition Live

The Ignition Live Shows will see industry experts and thought leaders engaging with visitors on the hottest topics shaping the automotive industry. With six sessions over each of the five days, topics include Movie Motors: From Fast & Furious to Fury Road; Robots Taking Over – Driverless Cars; Out of Gas – Fuels of the Future; How to be Automotive YouTube Star; and Build the Biggest Car Instagram Account.

Early adopters - Good driving habits start early

Work up an appetite

There is plenty of fun to be had beyond the automotive activities at the 2017 Dubai International Motor. Jazz musicians will perform three times each day on a purpose-built stage held in conjunction with Jazz by Pizza Express, while food outlets will be strategically placed around the venue to serve the hordes of hungry car fans.
