Dubai, UAE: Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world’s largest district cooling services provider, is participating as Platinum Sponsor in the State of Green Economy report 2019, which is due to be published by the Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence (Dubai Carbon). The report highlights the future of energy and sustainability in the UAE, and Dubai’s efforts in promoting the concept of sustainable cities and combating climate change. This comes in light of the UAE's interest in environmental issues and their impact on the development of environmental strategies, in addition to setting priorities for environmental action to address global warming and achieve Sustainable Development Goals 2030.

Empower's participation in the report reflects its efforts to shape the future of energy efficiency. It also supports the Green Economy for Sustainable Development initiative, which aims to build a green economy in the UAE and maintain sustainable environment.

The State of Green Economy report focuses on the Year of Zayed, and highlights the efforts and achievements of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in preserving the environment for the next generations to enjoy life in a clean, healthy, and safe environment.

“Empower prioritises environmental protection, development and sustainability. We are happy to participate in the State of Green Economy Report 2019, which highlights the efforts of the UAE and Dubai towards sustainable development. The report also sheds light on the UAE Vision 2021, which aims to make the UAE one of the best countries in energy and sustainability by 2021, as well as the Dubai Plan 2021, to make Dubai a smart and sustainable city whose environmental elements are clean, healthy and sustainable,” said Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower.

“The State of Green Economy Report 2019 is special as it speaks about the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who made several environmental achievements. Today, we follow his principles and continue his legacy,” added Bin Shafar.

Empower has adopted several projects and initiatives on environmental protection, and has employed modern technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to support and promote sustainability. Empower also launched several Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, to raise awareness on preserving the environment, among the community.

The State of Green Economy Report 2019 is compiled in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the World Green Economy Organisation (WGEO) and many local and regional participants.

Empower currently operates over 1.34 Million RT, providing environmentally responsible district cooling services to large-scale real estate developments, such as Jumeirah Group, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Business Bay, Dubai Healthcare City, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Palm Jumeirah, Discovery Gardens, Ibn Battuta Mall, Dubai Design District and International Media Production Zone, among others.
