CAIRO  - Egypt's state gas board EGAS will hold an international bid round for exploration in 11 concession areas by the end of June, local newspaper Al-Shorouk said on Tuesday, quoting an EGAS official.

The official, who was not named, said that the concessions would include eight sea areas and three land areas.

EGAS said in January it would hold an international bid round by the end of June in the east Mediterranean and the Nile Delta but did not specify how many concessions would be offered.

Egypt is trying to halt its imports of liquefied natural gas this year as it speeds up production at newly discovered gas fields.
