Dubai, UAE: Steven Zehr has been appointed as the new Head of the Airports Division for Cofely Besix Facility Management (CBFM), the region’s leading FM service provider.

Zehr brings over 25 years of specialised aviation experience, managing and planning some of the most critical airport operations globally. His career started in airport operations at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, and he has since worked in various countries in the areas of operations, commercial, planning and development and overall airport management.

Zehr’s experience in airport operations and facilities management experience in the Middle East spans over 20 years, and he has successfully contributed to the opening of the King Khaled International Airport in Riyadh, as well as the opening of T3 and the second runway at Abu Dhabi Int’l Airport.

In addition to the Middle East, Zehr also worked for various multi-national companies such as ADC & HAS Airports worldwide, as well as MDC Business Management in the UAE, Hong Kong and South Korea.

As head of the airports division, Zehr is responsible for managing and developing innovative airport/aviation solutions across the MENA region.

“My role primarily includes the management of airport operational services as well as airport sector business development support,” explained Zehr.

“Initially my focus is optimising current operations and expanding CBFM’s airport services’ presence throughout the region, as well as raising the standards of the facilities and airport systems management in aviation. It is important to continually strengthen our business operations by leveraging our international group capabilities and strengthening our current client relationships and operations by applying operational excellence and innovation.”

“With regards to Aviation FM, there is usually a much higher risk associated in managing the various service elements within airports such as loading bridges and baggage handling, for example. Our systems and procedures are therefore critical, as any failures can have a serious impact on airport and airline operations, which is why we need to make sure that the service we provide is up to the highest possible standards at all times,” added Zehr.

Steve holds a BS degree in Aviation Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and is an Accredited Airport Executive (A. A. E.) with the American Association of Airport Executives.
