Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi University (ADU), an internationally recognized academic institution for quality education and applied research, officially entered the Guinness World Records books today. The university has broken the record for creating the largest badge in history in honor of the UAE’s 2018 Year of Zayed. ADU’s Chairman, His Excellency Dr. Ali Saeed bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, accepted the Guinness World Record certificate on behalf of the university.

The initiative was spearheaded by Dr. Sheikha Moza bint Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, a member of ADU’s faculty, who oversaw the development, execution, and creation of the badge bearing the iconic Year of Zayed logo.

H.E. Dr. Ali Saeed bin Harmal Al Dhaheri commented, “This achievement is a milestone for ADU and contributes to the legacy of the UAE’s founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. It is a representation of our nation, which will be cemented in history both in the region and across the world. Today, we celebrate the glory of setting this new record- a remarkable accomplishment to our founding father who was a wise and visionary leader and an inspiration to all of us all. It is our collective pleasure at ADU to add this prestigious award to our list of accolades, and I am touched to see the community coming together to show their admiration for the late Sheikh Zayed.”

Referring to the certificate received for breaking the record, Dr. Sheikha Mozah bint Tahnoun said, “The entire ADU community came together to support this national initiative, which coincided with the celebration of the centennial of our founding father. It was an added bonus that the creation of this patriotic badge bearing the Year of Zayed logo was made just days away from the nation celebrating the 47th UAE National Day.”

“The cultural values that the late Sheikh Zayed was recognized for will forever hold a place in our hearts. We follow his remarkable vision, inspiring wisdom, and charismatic ways of leadership in our daily lives. He dedicated his life to the nation’s development and it’s something we are proud to showcase to the world today, and something which we will continue to do for years to come,” she stressed.

Hoda Khachab, Guinness World Records representative, added, “We are honored that the name of the brand is associated with the name of the UAE’s founding father. His legacy lives on across various fields such as education, environment, industry, philanthropy, and cultural creativity, among many others. At Guinness World Records, we are privileged to preserve and showcase the nation’s accomplishments, creating a link through innovation, knowledge and humanitarian values from the UAE to the rest of the world”.
