HAMBURG/DUBAI  - Saudi Arabia’s main state wheat buying agency the Saudi Grains Organization (SAGO) said on Thursday it had issued an international tender to purchase about 600,000 tonnes of animal feed barley, confirming earlier reports from traders.

Tender deadline is April 10, SAGO said. The barley is sought for arrival in Saudi Arabia during July and August, SAGO added.

“This is the third barley tender for SAGO in 2020,” said SAGO governor Ahmad Al Fares in a statement. “The 600,000 tonnes comprises ten individual cargos to be purchased from global suppliers.”

Offers are requested for shipments of 60,000 tonnes. SAGO reserves the right to buy 10% more or less than the tender volume.

Traders said these shipments were sought: Arrival date Red Sea ports Gulf ports July 1-15 180,000 tonnes, 3 ships 60,000 tonnes, 1 ship July 15-31 180,000 tonnes, 3 ships 60,000 tonnes, 1 ship Aug. 1-15 60,000 tonnes, 1 ship 60,000 tonnes, 1 ship

 

In its last reported barley tender on March 23, SAGO bought 1.2 million tonnes at an average price of $201.04 a tonne c&f for arrival in Saudi Arabia in May and June.
