Cairo –  Egypt’s strategic reserves of wheat are sufficient for 5.5 months, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported on Thursday, citing the minister of supply Ali El-Moselhy as saying.

In addition, the most populous Arab nation’s reserves of sugar and vegetable oils are enough for 6.5 months and 4.3 months, respectively.

The Egyptian government has provided $1.7 billion to increase the country’s strategic reserves of basic commodities since April 2017, the minister added.
