JEDDAH: The Saudi Ministry of Health announced on Friday that the total number of recoveries from the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has reached 262,959, with 2,566 patients recovering in the last 24 hours.

In Jeddah, the ministry’s “Taakad” (make sure) drive-through centers have tested 311,302 people since it was launched in June. The centers are dedicated for individuals showing no or mild symptoms, and those who suspect they have come into contact with an infected person.

Taakad services are also available in some health centers, and will soon be available in all regions around the Kingdom.

Meanwhile, the Kingdom reported 35 new COVID-19-related deaths on Friday, raising the total to 3,338. There were 1,383 new cases reported in Saudi Arabia, meaning 295,902 people have now contracted the disease. There are 29,605 active cases, 1,782 of them are in critical condition.
According to the ministry, 81 of the newly recorded cases were in Makkah, while Jeddah recorded 69 and Riyadh 63.

Saudi Arabia has so far conducted 4,138,204 tests, with 66,347 carried out in the last 24 hours.
