Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry, Nevine Gamea, issued a decision to ban imports of ceramic and porcelain tiles for a period of three months effective as of the following day of its publication in the Official Gazette.

The decision is part of measures taken by the ministry to organise the import of consumer goods amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Gamea said in a statement on Wednesday.

The move is aimed at boosting Egyptian production and mitigating the impact of the pandemic on local manufacturers.

The decision will be reviewed periodically and lifted when appropriate.
